 I'm passionate about nutrition and I want to help women choose the best foods without feeling deprived.

As a coach I will not tell you what you should or should not eat.... 

Instead I want to empower you by providing nutrition information and tools so you can make the best choices according to your individual circumstances.


Why The Joy of Eating?

I chose the name The Joy of Eating because I feel that we are so focused on eating so called healthy foods that we've lost the joy of eating. When we look at our plate often we just see calories, macros, points.

I want to help women reclaim the Joy of Eating, through wholesome food that sustains our body but also our spirit, feeling nourished instead of deprived. 


I believe that eating a wholefood diet, nourishing our body with plenty of delicious natural foods is the best way to look after our health. I follow a positive non diet approach, adding delicious foods that you enjoy eating rather than exclude foods that are supposed to be 'unhealthy'.

I'm not your typical nutrition coach....

I'm in my 50s and I describe myself as fat. I also have Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis (D.I.S.H.), a progressive condition that restricts movement.

I started dieting as a child, desperately trying to lose weight because I was told that I was too fat and I would die young. I tried every diet available, weight loss groups, points, calorie counting, food combining, low fat, plant based clean eating...  but the more I tried to lose weight, the more I gained.  Now I know that it wasn't me lacking will power, but research shows that dieting doesn't work. In fact 90% of people either don't lose weight or will gain back more than they lost. Dieting can actually make you fat! In many cases it will cause anxiety around food and lead to disordered eating, like in my case. 

They irony is that while focussing on weight loss I was actually neglecting my health, because I thought there was not much point in eating well, or exercising, as weight was all that mattered.  Dieting can be detrimental to your health in many ways. 

But over the years my health remained pretty average for my age. When I realised that my weight wasn't going to kill me any time soon I decided to stop dieting and focus on my health and wellbeing instead. 

I decided to study nutrition to help other women feel empowered to make the best decisions for their health, and reclaim the joy of eating, free from unnecessary restrictions. To look after their wellbeing now instead of waiting to be the perfect weight!
